Bio

Alan Cancelino is a natural born pianist and composer. He started playing and writing out of the clear blue at 4 yrs.old. Through early life he concentrated on classical performance under the guidance of  Slava Rostropovich, He later  went on to study film scoring at Berklee College of Music and Harvard, where he was bitten by the musical theater bug and hasn't looked back. An alum of the Lehman Engel Advanced Musical Theater Workshop at BMI, he met collaborator Jenne Wason and wrote the following shows under moderator Maury Yeston: THE MARRYING TYPES (Players Theatre), BINGO CITY (NYMF, The Tank), and THE WHITE ROSE   ( NYMF, Wright State, and The Public Theater). He wrote music for the play IN DARFUR by Winter Miller ( Ignite Festival, Soho Playhouse) and the Mac nominated review WHAT'S THE POINT?! with Hector Coris which played off B'way and also in Cincinnati and Montreal. He met collaborator Owen Robertson at a 48 hr musical  workshop at Dixon Place to write DEAD MAN BLOGGING and later  on to writeSYBIL (workshopped at Provincetown Theater) and a musical adaptation of  PECKER by John Waters.
